The Howards were so ugly last night, so badly built, so badly dressed, that I am extremely pleased about it.
Les Howard étaient si laides, si mal faites, si mal mises hier soir que j'en suis fort aise.
I cannot manage to compose the letter about the portrait. I am afraid of appearing ridiculous. I shall see if the inspiration comes tomorrow — without inspiration one can do nothing.
Je ne puis arriver à composer la lettre pour le portrait. Je crains de paraître ridicule. Je verrai si demain l'inspiration vient, sans l'inspiration on ne peut rien.
We are fully into spring and there is still some society about. I dreamed of the devil. I walked with Rickard, then we get into the carriage with Collignon, in front of whom I feel embarrassed to speak English.
Nous sommes tout à fait au printemps et il y a encore du monde. J'ai rêvé du diable. J'ai marché avec Rickard puis nous montons en voiture avec Collignon devant laquelle je me gène de parler anglais.
