Diary of Marie Bashkirtseff

I sleep until twelve; at two I set to work again drafting and composing the answers, until five — without once leaving Maman's room. Yesterday I drafted Maman's answers; today, my aunt's.
Markevitch dined here. Walitsky has composed his own answers, and the poor man begins thus: Je me suis née1 — etc.

Markevitch a dîné ici. Walitsky a fait ses réponses lui-même et le pauvre commence ainsi: *Je me suis née* etc.

Notes

Je me suis née — a grammatical blunder: the reflexive "me" is superfluous; correct French would be simply Je suis née ("I was born"). Marie quotes it with evident amusement at Walitsky's ineptitude.
