I have been reading my old diary and am afraid that the atrocious expressions of those days may creep back in here. I am far from pleased with my current style, but at least it is more properly French, more seemly — the old style is incomprehensibly bad. [Crossed out: All our set is in Monaco, I]
Maman is ill in bed. I have finished my Dumas, which devoured every free moment and more than a few occupied ones — it is so utterly gripping. Now I shall be able to begin serious reading; I have both the desire and the need for it.
I went to the concert with my aunt. I have nothing to wear!
