M. Allen and family have arrived.
At the concert, Galula came up to the carriage and paid court to us.
No one of interest! It is dismal — at Spa, at Ostende, there were always one, two, often more plobsters — here, nothing. What a wretched place!
The weather is fine. The rains are coming no more! No doubt we shall have them every other day all winter!
Wretchedness!
I wrote to Foster about Aunt Sally and Archery, and I replied to the Tamancheffs. Two things that had been weighing on my conscience!
Ah! If only my lessons could be fully organized! Tomorrow I will go and work to arrange them once more — the will is not lacking, but often a kind of inertia takes hold of me, for which I am cruelly punished by the constant remorse that torments me.

Notes

plobsters — Marie's invented code word for admirers; likely formed from "lobster."
Aunt Sally — in English in the original; an English fairground game in which players throw balls at a wooden target.
Archery — in English in the original.
