The sky is grey, the air calm, the Promenade fairly lively.
The newlywed Potemkines are walking.
I ordered a corset. There is a pigeon shoot at Monaco today -- every Friday, besides.
The dinner is so bad that my aunt, Dina, and I go to the London House (brown dress, red jacket, blue hat, not bad).
We saw the Beak and Co. going up in full evening dress to the first-floor salons. I do not think one dresses formally to dine at the London House.
We go and return on foot; on the way back we call on Mme Mortier, who keeps us an hour. She told us of the two masked balls she had been to this winter.
She spoke to Gioia, and the latter recognised her. -- We shall see each other again at Baden. -- Yes, opposite the Hamilton pavilion; but it is deserted. -- It is foolish; that desert breaks my heart.
