Returning to the villa along the promenade, we saw a yacht arriving with a great English flag. I guessed at once that it was the Duke of Hamilton's vessel.
En rentrant à la villa, par la promenade, nous vîmes arriver un yacht avec un grand drapeau anglais. J'ai aussitôt deviné que c'était le bateau du duc de Hamilton.
Behind the first ship, another yacht advances. It belongs to the Duke's cousin.
Derrière le premier navire s'avance un autre yacht. C'est celui du cousin du duc.
As the Duke of Hamilton's ship passed near the promenade, I recognized on the deck some ladies and the red parasol of the Wittgenstein woman.
Au moment où le navire du duc de Hamilton passait près de la promenade, j'ai reconnu sur le pont, des dames et l'ombrelle rouge de la Wittgenstein.
Then the two yachts set off toward Monte Carlo.
Puis les deux yachts s'en vont vers Monte-Carlo.
On the terrace, I read the newspaper. There is the program for the first two days of the races. The Duke's horses are not running.
Sur la terrasse, je lis le journal. Il y a le programme des deux premiers jours des courses. Les chevaux du duc ne courent pas.
