Dori

A small pet dog (female: «la ressuscita», «la pauvre petite bête») of the Bashkirtseff household in 1874; Mon Journal t.4 index «Dori, chien, 178, 204». The other household dogs of the time are Sandwich and Bagatelle.

• 1874-10-14 (024.0342): Marie stays at home alone with the dogs, «à droite dort Sandwich, à gauche sur le lit, Dori; vis-à-vis, sur le canapé, Bagatelle».
• 1874-11-11 (025.0202): Dori disappears in the night: Paul «a donnée à une actrice» the dog, but Georges and Walitsky fetch her back at three in the morning.
• 1874-11-15 (025.0246): while the family is at church «Dori tomba morte du lit»; sent to Walitsky, who «à force de compresses la ressuscita», but she remains very ill.
