Mme Gauthreau
Також відомий як: Mme Gauthreau, Gauthreau
Overview
Mme Gauthereau (Marie's spelling at 103.0551: «Gautereau»), a society beauty in Paris, hostess of a Wednesday salon; the Mon Journal t.14 index has «Gauthereau (Mme) : 278». Probably the same woman as the «Mme Gautereau» of 103.0551 who has a nose «à l'antique» (an inference from the name and the 'beauty' context).
Relevance to Marie
Stub replaced. Spelling variants (Gauthreau/Gauthereau/Gautereau). The diary does not say that the 1882 and 1884 women are the same, though both are beauties. No outside biography found.
Identity uncertain
We are not sure who this is. The diary calls her by a name spelled Gauthereau, Gautereau or Gauthreau, a beauty with a Wednesday salon (094.0190–0191, 1882) and, in 1884, a beauty with a classical nose (103.0551). We could not find a Mme Gauthereau in the sources checked (Mon Journal t.14 index p.278). If you can identify her, we would be glad to hear from you.
References in Diary
At the end of the soirée of 19 January 1882 (the evening at the comtesse de Kessler's) Marie meets her: «nous sommes invités à ses mercredis»; sitting near her she looks into her bodice «et j'ai vu que la forme est vraiment divine. Des pieds courts et gros à ce qu'il m'a semblé, ce serait dommage» (094.0190, 094.0191). In March 1884 Marie lists her among the beauties with the Empress Eugénie and Mme de Pourtalès (103.0551).
