The head of the provincial administration at Poltava in 1876 and his wife, whom Marie visits with her father. Mon Journal t.9 index: «Martinoff (M.), préfet : 76, 78, 81» and «Martinoff (Mme), femme d'un préfet, fille du général Ogareff». Marie's father offers to take her «chez Mme Martinoff (la préfète)» (065/1876-08-25, 065.0457); on 15 September they call: Mme Martinoff, «fille du général Ogareff», was married off by the Emperor to «un M. Martinoff auquel on donna une préfecture» after a scandal with the Emperor's valet (066.0242); she is «femme du monde, bien aimable», and "le gouverneur aussi", who interrupts a committee for «une demoiselle aussi charmante» (066.0243); M. Martinoff asks how long Marie will stay with her father (066.0254). Marie calls him both «préfet» and «gouverneur» in the same pages.

The wife's father is the General Ogareff. Not to be confused with Nadine Martinoff (Marie's aunt, see Nadine Martinoff), nor with the Neapolitan Mlles Martinoff of 1881-83 (MLLES_MARTINOFF).
