Lieutenant Jahleel Brenton Carey
Також відомий як: Lieutenant Carey, Carey, le lieutenant Carey
Overview
British army officer who led the small patrol with which the Prince Imperial rode out in Zululand on 1 June 1879. When Zulu warriors attacked, the patrol fled and the Prince was killed. Carey was court-martialled for misbehaviour before the enemy and found guilty, but the verdict was set aside and he returned to his regiment; he died at Karachi in 1883 (English Wikipedia, «Jahleel Brenton Carey»). The index of Mon Journal t.13 calls him «Carey (Capitaine) : 45, 53-54»; Marie writes «le lieutenant Carey».
