Chilowsky

Overview

The name of at least two people in Marie's Nice circle: M. Chilowsky, «le petit Chilowsky, d'indifférente mémoire» (043.0285), and Mme Chilowsky, who died with the princess Galitzine in December 1875 (052.0089). Relevance to Marie

• 20 September 1875. The Bashkirtseffs' theatre box in Nice at the opera season «qu'avait jadis le petit Chilowsky, d'indifférente mémoire» (043.0285): a young man who held the box in an earlier season.
• 11 January 1876. Looking forward to the English visitors and the spring season, the gentlemen of Nice «leur forment une espèce de cour comme il y a trois ans à la princesse Galitzine et à Mme Chilowsky, toutes deux mortes il y a un mois» (052.0089). The «princesse Galitzine» may be Marie's friend Nathalie Galitzine, but the identification is not made by the text.

Identity uncertain

We are not sure who they were, nor whether Mme Chilowsky is the mother or wife of the «petit Chilowsky»; nor whether they are connected to the Chilovski of 1874 (CHILOVSKI). If you can identify them, we would be glad to hear from you.
