Relevance to Marie
Within days he is «plus ou moins de la famille» (068.0801): he escorts the family to the races, the opera and the station, and is the butt of Marie's play-acting. She asks him whether he is inclined to fall in love with her (068.0897-0558: «un petit jeune homme doux et timide et naïf»), and during Faust she «courts» him for a quarter of an hour in the box until he stammers (068.0934-0596). He sees her off at the station on 6 February 1877 with sweets and flowers (068.0987).References in Diary
