Lyon, the city on the Rhône and Saône, on the railway from Paris and from Geneva to the Riviera. In the diary it is a stage of the family's train journeys, not a place where they stay: Geneva–Lyon with American travellers and Lyon by night in a «coupé-lit» (005.0023, 005.0072, 005.0073, May 1873); «Depuis Paris jusqu'à Lyon nous étions dans la neige» on the way back to Nice (050.0247, 28 November 1875).
