Louis, Jeanne Suermondt's husband (1878)

In the letter of #Jeanne Suermondt, written at Halfweg near Haarlem on 14 May 1878 and copied into the diary on 18 May (080.0173): «mon Louis et moi» are married nearly a year; «il n'a que 24 ans, moi 19», he had been a naval officer who served in the «guerre d'Atchine» (the Aceh War in Sumatra, which began in 1873) and, as Jeanne did not want a husband at sea, left the navy to become an économe; they live between Haarlem and Amsterdam and she expects a child in a few weeks. His surname is not given beyond «Suermondt», Jeanne's maiden name (presumably; not established). He is mentioned only in this one letter (080.0173; Jeanne's next paragraph, 080.0174, says «mon mari»).
