Overview

A huge man from the Poltava circle of Marie's father, autumn 1876. The Mon Journal t.9 index lists him as «Kamensky (M.)» (pp. 87, 89, 113). His first name and position are not given. The Cyrillic form above is the usual spelling of the surname, not a sourced form for this man.

Relevance to Marie

  • Wolf hunt, 24 September 1876: «Kamensky, un Porthos» heads Marie's list of the hunters, and the official Lihovtich is «presque aussi énorme que Kamensky» (066.0390). When the nets come up empty except for a hare, «le géant Kamensky tua d'un coup de pied, l'abominable brute» (066.0406).
  • Mock trial at Gavronzi, 8 October 1876: he wears a watch chain and plays the usher, «l'huissier-Kamesky» (066.0726–0727).

Translation

Marie writes «Kamesky» in 066.0726–0727 (so printed in Mon Journal t.9 p.113). It is the same man as the index's «Kamensky». Translators may keep each spelling as written or use Kamensky throughout, but should decide one way for the whole tree.
