Chabral
Also known as: Chabral
Overview
An architect, «Chabral, architecte du théâtre Français» (093.0043); Mon Journal t.14 index: «Chabral (M.) architecte : 198». Marie's spelling is probably of Chabrol.
Relevance to Marie
On 1 September 1881 she tells that Saint Amand dined with them two days before, having left Dieppe that morning: «Il va écrire à Chabral, architecte du théâtre Français. Car je suis décidée à bâtir... C'est un désir ardent d'être enfin chez moi.» The lawsuit will not end for three or four months and nothing can be committed or sold until then (093.0043).
Identity uncertain
We are not sure who this is. Pierre Prosper Chabrol (born Limoges 1 February 1812, died at the Palais-Royal 9 March 1875) was the architect of the Palais-Royal and rebuilt the Théâtre-Français hall in 1860, but he died six years before this paragraph; his son Wilbrod Chabrol (Paris, 1835 – Le Vésinet, 2 August 1919), Prix de Rome 1862, is the likelier candidate in 1881, though nothing found confirms that he held the Théâtre-Français post (French Wikipedia, «Pierre Prosper Chabrol», «Wilbrod Chabrol»; English Wikipedia, «Salle Richelieu»). If you can identify him, we would be glad to hear from you.
