My illness [words blacked out: plunges me into a] prostration that leaves me numb.
Julian writes that the painting is not yet hung. Tony cannot promise the cimaise, but since I am not yet hung… what can be done will be done. Tony has strong hopes of a small award covering painting and pastel.
Only two months ago I hoped for nothing of the kind — and now I remain numb, as though it were not a matter that concerned me at all. This mention that was to have made me faint…
