A small dinner. Saint-Amand, the Baronne and her son, Géry, and Gabriel who arrived this morning, and a tenor named Estéoul, recommended by de Ballore and Ricardo, whom I want Saint-Amand to hear as he might be able to help him.
It seems I am not very amiable with Gabriel — I am, only not flirtatious; such people bore me. Young Arnaud de Linsengen, who is twenty-one, asks whether the torsos are from life. For we went up to see the studio, naturally. In future I shall say they are after the antique.
