And Bojidar and Dina are dancing, and Barnola, who had lunch with us yesterday, danced too, and the urchins who pose for me start dancing when I sing it. Ah, what a fine evening! We all crammed into a cab to which Paul, with his calm air, gave orders to drive to the Russian cemetery — but we had to stop to hear a gentleman perched on an empty platform making a speech as if in Parliament; I interrupted from our cab, they called for an encore, and the gentleman was carried off in triumph. Not that I have any idea who he was. And to think that anyone could ever have suspected that this disorderly band was us!
Above all, there had been during the day a carriage wearing the same spotted dominoes — and the people who will hear what they did that evening!
