Samedi 10 juillet 1880

The day before yesterday my aunt went to the Comedie-Francaise with the Gavinis, and Gabriel came to the box; he has not left Paris. I shall never understand why he no longer comes to the house. A few people: Mmes Gavini, Jinsingen, Fargman, Moraes, Mlle de Villevieille, Mme de Quincy. Wodzinski posed this morning; he confided that he has made his proposal, and the family having departed he has no answer, but he is not positively rejected since they are in negotiations with the father. He said laughingly that he would poison me if I ever told this; he asks my advice on his affairs. Saint-Amand arrives during lunch; he may come to Mont-Dore.

Avant-hier ma tante est allee au Francais avec les Gavini et Gabriel est venu dans la loge, il n'a pas quitte Paris. Je ne comprendrai jamais pourquoi il ne vient plus a la maison. Quelques personnes, Mmes Gavini, Jinsingen, Fargman, Moraes, Mlle de Villevieille, Mme de Quincy. Wodzinski a pose ce matin, il m'a confie qu'il a fait sa demande et la famille etant partie n'a pas de reponse mais n'est pas positivement repousse puisqu'ils sont en affaire avec le pere. Il a dit en riant qu'il m'empoisonnerait si je racontais jamais cela, il demande mon avis sur ses affaires. Saint Amand arrive pendant le dejeuner, il viendra peut-etre au Mont-Dore.

Wodzinski gave me a stickenglish1 trimmed with silver, with my monogram and coronet. He is going to La Bourboule along with Rosita and Moraes; it is quite near Mont-Dore.

Wodzinski me fait cadeau d'un stick garni d'argent avec mon chiffre et la couronne. Il va a la Bourboule ainsi que Rosita et Moraes, c'est tout pres du Mont-Dore.
