Cassagnac could neither come nor bring his wife — he left today or yesterday for the Gers.
Le Pays reproduces a note from L'Appel au peuple: "M. Paul de Cassagnac and Mme Paul de Cassagnac will arrive at the château de Couloumé-Mondebat," etc., etc. These small miseries will always put me into a rage, followed by a decomposition of all moral forces — a terrible weakening, fortunately transitory.
Berthe is still pretty; she says she adores her Robert and he adores her. Amen.
As for my reflections of yesterday — I forgot to add that this whole affair repulses me like a badly made dress: it is in bad taste, and I turn away from it with disdain.
