I was too well-dressed and too charming for it to have turned out otherwise. Nobody came, save Berthe, who dined with us. As for me, scarcely eight o'clock I wrapped myself in a dressing gown and slept, or nearly so, while Berthe chattered on.J'étais trop bien mise et trop gentille pour qu'il en arrivât autrement. Personne n'est venue, sauf Berthe qui a dîné avec nous. Quant à moi, à peine huit heures, je me suis enveloppée d'un peignoir et j'ai dormi ou à peu près, pendant que Berthe bavardait.
