Madrazo

Painter met in Madrid in October 1881. On 10 October Marie is told at the Prado that «Madrazzo, fils du directeur du musée, et peintre lui-même» liked her copy and wants to meet her (093.0201); on 16 October, at the Rastro (Madrid's flea market), «on m'a présenté Madrazo qui m'a fait des compliments sur ma copie» (093.0256). The museum's director was Federico de Madrazo y Küntz (1815-1894), whose son Raimundo de Madrazo (1841-1920) was a celebrated portrait painter (diary footnote at 093.0201); Marie does not give a first name, so the son's identity is probable but not confirmed (Federico had another painter son, Ricardo).
