Identity

A singer in the circle of the art dealer Gambart at Spa in July 1874; the Tome 4 name index of Mon Journal lists him as «Bouhy, chanteur» (pp. 36, 50). Probably (0.8) the Belgian baritone Jacques Bouhy (1848–1929), born at Pepinster near Spa, who had made his Paris Opéra debut as Méphistophélès in 1871 and created Escamillo in Carmen at the Opéra-Comique on 3 March 1875 (Wikipedia, «Jacques Bouhy»; Morgan Library catalogue, «Couplets du Toréador», credited to Bouhy, Jacques, 1848–1929). The identification rests on the name, the profession and the place; the diary gives no first name.
