Identity

A person in Nice society whom Marie considers a "fou" (madman). Has unpleasant manners that Marie dislikes.

Name and nickname (added 2026-10-21, RSR): the Tome 3 name index of Mon Journal (Cercle des Amis de Marie Bashkirtseff edition) lists him as «Woerman (Jean), [Le baron]» and cross-refers «Baron (le): Woerman». In Nice in the spring of 1874, «le baron» in Marie's text is Woerman (e.g. 017.0014, where «Le baron» stands treat at a kiosk and pays a hundred francs for the champagne, then boasts of the expense).
