Overview

Count Alexandre de Larderel's valet. The Mon Journal t.10 index has «Séraphin (valet de chambre de Larderel), 88, 128, 150, 218, 221, 224-225, 229-230, 265». Marie calls him «le valet de chambre» (070.0763).

Relevance to Marie

Séraphin is Larderel's counterpart to Marie's maid #Rosalie: the two servants gossip about their masters, and Marie gets much of her news of Larderel through them.

• Naples, April 1877: he follows Larderel by cab (070/1877-04-07); he asks Rosalie «Pourquoi votre Demoiselle ne veut-elle pas de Monsieur le comte ?» (070.0761), and Rosalie repeats his talk to Marie (070.0763–0764).
• Nice, June 1877: Rosalie and Séraphin go to Villefranche together and come back with stories that the count is in love with Marie (072/1877-06-15 to 06-19).
• September 1878: «Monsieur Séraphin est venu voir Mlle Rosalie» (082/1878-09-10).

Not the «Séraphine» of the 1873–74 Nice entries (carnets 012–014), a different person.
