Overview

Roulette, a small white dog of the Bashkirtseff household who had died by April 1874; the Mon Journal t.3 index has «Roulette, chien, 173». The entry is filed under people but names a pet.

Relevance to Marie

On 28 April 1874 at Nice Marie asks her brother Paul for a little white dog that belongs to a man called Lewita, because it is «comme feu Roulette» (019.0027); Lewita, «ce juif» (see the footnote of that paragraph and the note on LEWITA), does not dare refuse. So Roulette was a white dog, loved and lost earlier in the family's life; the diary does not say when or how.
