Overview

Arthur Malausséna (Nice 1846 - Paris 1899), lawyer (avocat) in Nice, son of #Malaussena (François Malausséna, the former mayor); later a republican deputy of the Alpes-Maritimes and legal adviser to the Société des Bains de Mer de Monaco (fr.wikipedia, "Arthur Malausséna"). In the Mon Journal indexes he is «Malausséna (Arthur), avocat» (t.1 index, pp. 167, 184, 195, 197; t.2 index, p. 81).

Relevance to Marie

In June 1873 he is the lawyer the Bashkirtseffs consult and who pleads for Georges in the lawsuit brought by the Tolstoy family (Marie's uncle Georges was accused of striking a Tolstoy; the verdict, «Il est condamné à six jours de prison et cinq cents francs d'amende», most likely concerns him).

  • 1873-06-21 (006.0064): at the hearing, «M. Malausséna a parlé splendidement», but no foreign witness would testify; «Il est condamné à six jours de prison et cinq cents francs d'amende» (most likely Georges).
  • 1873-09-24 (010.0055): Georges has been dining «avec Malausséna II et le maire»; "II" probably distinguishes him from his father.
