Salms

Overview

Probably Alexis de Solms (born 1852; identification 0.8), the son of the Parisian hostess Marie Rattazzi (Marie-Lætitia Bonaparte-Wyse, 1831–1902) by her first marriage; according to Wikipedia his natural father was the Count Alexis de Pomereu, while the Solms name came from her first husband, Frédéric de Solms (en.wikipedia «Marie Bonaparte-Wyse»). Marie's text agrees: «Salms, le fils de la célèbre Rattazzi» (101.0456); his fortune is «laissée par le marquis de Pommeren dont il est le fils et qui a enrichi sa mère» (101.0458); «Il n'est même pas comte, quoiqu'il le mette sur ses cartes. La famille de Salms lui a, dit-on, fait interdire de porter ce titre, le mari de sa mère n'étant que M. Salms tout court». The Mon Journal t.16 index reads «Salms (M.), fils de Mme Rattazzi : 42, 55–56» (the name «Pommeren (marquis) : 42» is there too) and t.15 «Salms (comte de) : 122». See RATTAZZI.

Relevance to Marie

• 13 April 1883: «M. le comte de Salms» dines with the Bashkirtseffs, among thirteen guests (099.0123).
• 27 September 1883: Mme Faleyeff says her daughter is going to marry Salms; Marie reports the daughter's scandal with a Russian consulate attaché and thinks Salms «très amoureux ou très endetté» (101.0456–101.0458).
• 14 October 1883: at the evening of the engaged couple he plays bezique with Mme Gavini (101.0606, 101.0614, 101.0617): «il sait tout et épouse... sans amour», a gambler.
• 13 December 1882 (097.0235), «le comte de Solms» sits behind her at the Opéra with count Plater (see PLATER); tagged here as well since the stub-pass apply of 2026-10-22 (same name, same Paris circle; 0.8).
