Pecoule

Overview

M. Pecoule, the gérant (manager or caretaker) of the villa at Nice that the family occupies from 30 January 1882. The Mon Journal t.14 index lists him as «Pecoule (M., gérant)» (p.283); he appears nowhere else.

Relevance to Marie

On arriving at night from Paris with Paul, Nini, Dina, Rosalie, Basile and Coco, Marie finds the house ready: «Nous trouvons tout préparé et gérant M. Pecoule, avec des bouquets» (094.0219). The villa lies «en pleine campagne», ten minutes from the Promenade des Anglais, with a terrace, gardens and a tramway passing the garden. The diary does not name the villa, and nothing more is known of M. Pecoule.
