Hotel Metropole

Overview

The entry joins two different hotels of the same name, in two cities:

1. Hôtel de la Métropole, Geneva (May 1873): not a stay. On 23 May 1873, arriving in Geneva, Marie writes (in English): «To my great disappointment we did not go to the hôtel de la Métropole but to the hôtel de la Couronne. I wished very much to go to the Metropol.» (005.0029). 2. Hôtel Métropole, Nice (November 1874): where Nina, who has come to Nice with Pâris looking for lodgings, is staying: «nous étions chez les Howard et en un instant chez Nina, qui loge à la Métropole, elle a arrêté un appartement dans une villa de la rue de France en face de nous. Elle doit vivre serrée, pauvre, comme c'est affreux !» (025.0250, 15 November 1874). See Nina and Rue de France.
