Overview
Saint-Augustin is the Paris parish church in the 8th arrondissement, at the end of the Boulevard Malesherbes, built by Victor Baltard between 1860 and 1871 (Wikipedia, «Saint-Augustin, Paris») with a pioneering metal frame behind its stone facing and a Romanesque-Byzantine design. Under the Second Empire it was a monumental landmark of the new Haussmann quarter, and for the Bonapartists of the Third Republic it was «l'église bonapartiste» (Marie, 079.0339): the church where the exiled dynasty's feasts and funerals were celebrated.
