Santa Severina
Also known as: Santa Severina, Severina, prince Greuther
Overview
Prince Greuther, duke of Santa Severina, a Neapolitan nobleman presented to the Bashkirtseffs in Naples on 15 April 1877 by Nasimoff (the Russian vice-consul). Mon Journal t.10 index: «Greuther (prince, duc de Santa Severina)», pp.118, 172, 194. Marie's only appearance of him in person is in the guest list of that evening: «Et le prince Greuther duc de Santa Severina, présenté cet après-midi par Nasimoff» (070.0620). Later, in her musing on marriage and money, she uses «le plus beau duc de Melito ou prince de Santa Severina du monde» as a type of titled husband (071.0304, 071/1877-05-13; not tagged), which presumably alludes to him and to the duke of Melito. No other biographical detail is given.
