Rouzat

Overview

A young man in the Parisian social circle around Mme de Bailleul and the Mouzay set, 1880. Marie encounters him at the Pascalis costume ball (3 May 1880) and at social evenings (18 May, 24 May 1880). He appears as a bachelor being manoeuvred in the marriage market: "Rouzat n'épousera qu'une dot" (Rouzat will only marry a dowry), Marie remarks — a dismissive but telling social observation. He is also seen alongside Soutzo.
