Description

A branch of the great Neapolitan House of Caracciolo. Founded when Ambrogio Caracciolo (1699–1748), second son of the 5th Prince of Avellino, purchased the fiefdom of Torchiarolo in Puglia for 9,000 ducats and was granted the princely title. The branch was among the very few Neapolitan families to hold the title of Prince of the Holy Roman Empire with the qualification "Serene Highness."
