Identity

Mlle Nadia Galitzine, the young daughter of the princess Nathalie Galitzine, Marie's friend «Bête» (#Bete). She is with her mother at the Bashkirtseffs' in Nice («Je couche Nadia au salon jaune», 009.0183) and in their theatre box («moi, Dina, Nadia, Bête et Bijou», 019.0160); «Depuis deux jours la pauvre Nadia est malade et la princesse ne vient pas» (016/1874-02-04).

Names

Marie also writes «Nadinka» (012.0075, 012.0207; tagged NADINKA, a duplicate stub for 1873; the «Nadinka» who writes about Paul in 1875, 031.0307, is someone else). The edition's indexes give her the nickname «Bijou», but «Bijou» is also the name of a dog (see #Bijou); in the passages checked Bijou is the dog except perhaps 010.0210.
