Lady Caithness

Marie Sinclair, Countess of Caithness (1830-1895), born Maria de Mariategui, of Spanish descent; second wife of James Sinclair, 14th Earl of Caithness (married 1872), known for her spiritualism and Theosophy and, from the 1880s, for her Paris salon; mother of the Duke de Pomar (Wikipedia, «Marie Sinclair, Countess of Caithness»; see POMAR). The Mon Journal t.14 index has «Caithness (lady), mère du duc de Pomar», pp. 298, 300.

In March 1882 at Nice Marie names her in the gossip around Pomar, whom the girls of Nice pursue: «comme sur Pomar et lady Caithness» (094.0347), and complains that «ce... fils de lady Caithness est bien dur», with many young women breaking their teeth on him (094.0351). Marie's own explanation of Pomar and his mother is at 094.0325.
