Out all day, from ten o'clock until seven. It begins with a visit to Carolus with Adeline. This man is truly an artist. He transports you to the sixteenth century, the Renaissance — our modern dress is out of place with this charming and... affected creature. I say affected because that is what the vulgar call people who are different from a Durand or a Balandard; one must be grateful to him for offering us his charming personality, his interesting interior, his studios [blacked-out words: in spirit much more] than the furniture transporting us to a distant era which appears to us adorable.
Then luncheon at the Gavinis' with Saint-Amand and Nervo.
Then errands at Worth, where I have a consultation with M. Jean, and at Doucet, where I have another with M. Jean. Result: three dresses. It rained all day — I could not have worked in any case...
