There was an enormous crowd, diplomatic corps, etc., at the Te Deum on the occasion of the miraculous way in which the Emperor escaped a new nihilist attempt.

Il y avait un monde fou, corps diplomatique etc. au Te deum à l'occasion de la façon miraculeuse avec laquelle l'Empereur a échappé à une nouvelle tentative nihiliste.

We go to church, but I cannot say anything; I am agitated. Yesterday evening at the Krishabers', I was introduced to Andrieux the Prefect of Police, and he waltzed with me; then we chatted at length. I introduced him to Maman, and he asked permission to come see us. We had brought Rouzat with us. I also chatted a great deal with Munkacsy and then with some ladies. I hid from the dancers, saying that the Rouher speech had killed me.

Nous allons à l'église, mais je ne puis rien dire, je suis énervée. Hier soir chez les Krishaber, on m'a présenté Andrieux le préfet de police et il a valsé avec moi, puis nous avons beaucoup causé. Je l'ai présenté à maman et et il a demandé la permission de venir nous voir. Nous avions emmené Rouzat avec nous. J'ai aussi beaucoup causé avec Munkasy et puis des dames. Je me cachais des danseurs disant que le discours Rouher m'avait tuée.

Today at the Gavinis', quite a crowd; Las Cases was leaving as we arrived; there was Chaudordy back from a trip, Count Lepic, etc. I am positively unhinged; impossible to tell anything.

Aujourd'hui chez les Gavini, assez de monde; Las Cases partait comme nous arrivions, il y avait Chaudordy revenu de voyage, comte Lepic, etc. Je suis positivement détraquée, impossible de raconter rien.
