[One line cancelled]
Rouher was to speak, and we go to the Chamber, Gambetta's gallery, [Words blacked out: the session is very] tedious, and at four o'clock, Rouher having postponed his speech to Saturday, we leave. Madame Gavini goes to pay calls, and my aunt and I go to fetch Mme de Daillens, to whom I had promised a session. I make her believe that Rouher is going to speak, and as it is a rarity, I carry her off; we return, and I amuse myself as cicerone. Joseph is absent, but Gambetta ogles me a great deal; he has never done so as much as this evening, so before leaving I pretend to look for my handkerchief to show myself standing up.
Afterwards a visit to the Dureaus.
