It has been a long time since I went out during the promenade hours on foot, and it was with pleasure that I walked today in the company of Rickard (the English one) and Victor. Some people admired him; others drew back — and those were in the greater number. There are always more bad than good in all things.
Gioia was incomparable today, and Hamilton could not have chosen another woman — she alone is worthy of him. But what is strange is that for nearly six nights running now I have been dreaming of this woman; let us see whether I shall see her again tonight. It is incredible how I am advancing in Latin with Brunet. My aunt has left for San Remo. On Saturday morning Sacha and his family and I will go to join her. For more than a week now I have been going to bed after midnight; tonight at ten.
