Overview

A Russian princess of the Belosselsky (Beloselsky-Belozersky) family, whom Marie hears of in Nice at Easter 1875. The Mon Journal t.5 index has «Belosselsky (princesse), 28». She is not seen in the diary.

Relevance to Marie

At the Orthodox Easter night service in Nice on 24 April 1875, a lady of Marie's party leaves in the middle of the mass because she is tired: «Son but est manqué d'ailleurs, elle pensait rencontrer la princesse Belosselsky et toutes ces grands futurs parents de Julie» (032.0106). The preceding paragraph shows that the party included Mme Voyeïkoff and her daughter Julie (032.0105); the Mon Journal indexes list «Voyeïkoff (Mlle Julie), (baronne Benkendorff)». So the Belosselskys were the expected in-laws of Julie. This is an inference from the context.

Identity uncertain

A second entry, PRINCESS_BELOCELSKY, covers a «princesse Belocelsky» of March 1874, probably the same family and perhaps the same lady; we have not been able to establish that. If you can identify her, we would be glad to hear from you.
