Wife of M. Plevasko, a Russian lawyer (Mon Journal t.5 index: «Plevasko (M.), avocat», pp. 262-263, 273-274) whom Marie, in Paris on 30 August 1875, describes as «une célébrité en Russie»; the Bashkirtseffs take «lui et sa femme, grasse et fraîche personne, au Bois» (040.0163) and make the tour of the cascade in the rain for Mme Plevasko, who has never seen the Bois and leaves the next day or the day after (040.0168).
Identity uncertain
The lawyer is probably the famous Moscow advocate Fyodor Plevako (1842-1908), but nothing in the diary confirms this. Readers' insights are welcome.
