Overview
A drawing in charcoal and white chalk on paper, catalogued by the Petit Palais, Musée des Beaux-Arts de la Ville de Paris as Portrait de l'artiste, inventory PPD1014. The museum's detailed record gives it as 61 × 47 cm (framed 80 × 65 cm) and says it was given by hand by Marie Stepanovna Babanine, the artist's mother, on 11 July 1916. It is the third Bashkirtseff in the Petit Palais, beside La Parisienne (given 1902) and the drawing Femme lisant à l'angle d'un piano (given 1907).
Notes
The online record carries no image, so the drawing could not be examined for this entry, and it is undated. Kernberger reproduces a "Self-portrait, Marie Bashkirtseff, Musée du Petit Palais, Paris" without date or medium. That is probably this sheet, since the museum's other two works by her are not self-portraits, but the identification has not been checked against the original.
