Overview

A count known to M. Yourkoff, encountered at the circus in Geneva in May 1873. Marie notes that all the previous winter in Nice, the Bashkirtseffs had mistaken him for "Audiffret aîné" (the elder Audiffret). He appears at least once again in Nice entries of summer 1873.

Diary References

  • May 24, 1873 (005.0039): Seen at the circus in Geneva; "Yourkoff le connaît, c'est le comte Grimau."
  • Further mentions in carnet 005 (Nice, June 1873).

Research Notes

Identity unconfirmed. The name "Grimau" may be a French rendering of a Spanish or Italian surname. He was apparently a regular presence in the Nice–Geneva Russian social circuit in the early 1870s.
