Nicknames
Marie nicknamed him Antinoüs (after the beautiful boy who was the favorite of Emperor Hadrian), suggesting she found him physically attractive.
Significance in Marie's Diary
Arnaud appears 5 times in Book 13 (1879) during the period when Marie was most politically engaged. His connection to Gambetta placed him at the center of Republican politics, which Marie followed after her disillusionment with Bonapartism and Cassagnac.
