Overview

A man known to Marie only as «le Hongrois», whom she meets on her walks at Nice in October 1874; she does not name him. He is not in the Mon Journal indexes.

Relevance to Marie

On 7 October 1874 at Nice, after a walk with Gioia the monkey and Walitsky: «Je n'ai rencontré que le Hongrois que j'ai vu hier, Walitsky le voit à la roulette. D'ailleurs ici il n'y a encore personne» (024.0255). So he is a man Walitsky has seen at the roulette table (WALITSKY). Her monkey is called GIOIA after the Duke of Hamilton's mistress.
