Overview

The Palais-Bourbon, quai d'Orsay, Paris: seat of the Corps législatif under the Second Empire (1852–70) and of the Chamber of Deputies from 1879. Marie calls it by either name.

In Marie's diary

  • 28 May 1874: «Nous étions à l'exposition au profit des Alsaciens-Lorrains, au Corps législatif» (019.0377). A catalogue of the paintings shown in 1874 at the Palais de la Présidence du Corps législatif «au profit de la colonisation de l'Algérie par les Alsaciens-Lorrains» is recorded in the Joconde database (https://pop.culture.gouv.fr/notice/joconde/00000105746); this is probably the exhibition she saw.
  • Later mentions concern the Chamber of Deputies (1879–83), among them Gambetta's lying in state at the Palais-Bourbon, where Bastien-Lepage painted him, in January 1883 (097.0349).
