Overview

A Russian lady of the Nice colony who led the Russian amateur singers at the Russian church in Nice on 24 April 1875: «Pour cette fête les chantres ordinaires sont remplacés par plusieurs dames et messieurs russes dirigées par Mme Vériguine» (032.0099).

References in Diary

  • 1875-04-24 (032.0099): leads the choir of Russian ladies and gentlemen at the Nice church (Hélène and Lise Howard sing in it).
  • 1875-09-01 (041.0023): in a memory of Baden-Baden, Marie recalls watching «la sœur de Mme Veriguine» enter the palace of Princess Marie of Baden, the Duke of Hamilton's mother.

The Mon Journal t.5 index has one entry, «Vériguine (Mme), 36, 281», covering both pages, so the editor took them for the same woman (0.8).

Identity uncertain

We are not sure who this is. The diary gives only the surname (a French spelling of the Russian Веригина, Verigina); her husband, her first name and her sister (041.0023) are not named, and the edition index adds nothing. Sources checked: Mon Journal t.5 index; a web search (2026-10-22). If you can identify her, we would be glad to hear from you.
