Overview

Mme Hélène, a travelling companion of the Bashkirtseff family in spring 1882 who knows Antonelli and the circle at Nice. Not Hélène Howard (see HELENE_HOWARD); the Mon Journal t.14 index was checked and has no «Hélène» line.

Relevance to Marie

Stub replaced. Not identified; family relationship unclear (first name only, 'Mme'). Possible duplicate: HELENE (stub).

Identity uncertain

We are not sure who this is. Marie names her only as «Mme Hélène» in company of the family at Nice and Monaco in March–April 1882 (094.0339, 094.0383); her surname, and whether she is a relation, are not given. If you can identify her, we would be glad to hear from you.

References in Diary

On 24 March 1882 she goes with the family and friends to Nice after Marie lunches with Barnola, «la princesse, Mme Hélène» (094.0339). On 11 April, on a journey, Mme Hélène asks for news of Antonelli; Marie cries that he never pleased her and then tells her the whole Larderel affair, which takes more than an hour (094.0383).
